“Beautiful” is a  re-sculpt of “The Pawn” that you can see in my PTSD series . “Recurve” is another sculpture I was able to make using “The Pawn” as a model. This is one of my favorite pieces.

I hate to admit I am culturally naive …but I am, so the base is just a bunch of made up stuff I painted on a wood block.

This is going to my friend, Scott Renk, who is an artist and an art teacher at an alternative High School in Raleigh.

  4. I love this piece, and t he base goes with it. Did you paint this with bronze paint?

  5. erika, this is the dark colored clay I like to use. -Called B3 by laguna. It’s fired to earthenware temperature here and coated with water-based matte varnish.

  6. Must be the lightning then. I thought it was bronze paint. How do you take these nice photographs?

  7. Thanks for the link. I love the set! I just got a tripod, I would trade it for this one. It’ s going to be on my must-have list for sure. What is max height you can take pics on?

  8. The tripod in this set doesn’t hold my camera very well because I have a huge lens on dsl camera body (I know, I know, I should be able to take better pics!!!) and it’s front heavy, but for smaller camera would be fine. I can’t really say what max height is because the top flap does not have to be closed and the bottom is also open, so if you used your own background (like a piece of canvas, fabric, or poster board) you could extend the height a bit but the lights are small, so you can’t go too far with that.
