Grant Miller's Nearly Naked Soul by Kim Marchesseault

It was difficult to capture such an elusive thing in clay but here it is. Grant, thanks for posing.

  1. Awesome! Thank you so much. I’m honored.

  2. Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God! How did you mange to capture the essene that IS Grant Miller with such detail! Grant’s package looks EXACTLY like this! Michaelangelo’s David is hanging his head in shame.

  3. PS: You rock!

  4. Kim, I love this, I think it’s probably one of your best of what I’ve seen. What is the size of the work, and how long did you spend on it? Congrats!

  5. I am sticking to the theory that “Grant Miller” is actually a conglomerate of 6-8 different bloggers. The Grant Miller I’ve actually met is just the spokesmodel, some actor named “Phil” or maybe “Dennis.”

Other than that, this sculpture accurately captures the essence of “Grant Miller.”

  6. Thanks! You guys are really sweet.

Erika, This took me about 2.5 hours with a live model and then another hour or so to finish it up . It will require several weeks to slowly dry because of the unconventional construction. I will check it and maintain it constantly during that time. Then I will fire, sand and varnish it. It’s 14.5 inches long.

McGone, you may be onto something! hehe

  7. I like that McGone called me a Spokesmodel. I need to get that on a business card.

  8. Nice, Kimiam. Grant Miller’s soul has very much in common with his body. Who is GM?

  9. Thank you, swallows. He’s someone who makes me laugh, Swallows. Sometimes my content is too intense, too serious, too heavy for most people, -even for me. It’s good to step back and just laugh and do things for pure joy and fun every now and then. It’s good to be a whole person.

  10. Let me know how that being a whole person works out for you. I’ve gone another route: a thin web of hastily cobbled together desires for snack chips and predilections toward making dick jokes.

Nice work, however. I may now believe in souls. At least in Grant Miller’s case.

  11. Nice nips Grant Miller.

  12. oooww.. love the precision.. bravo!
    (:
